“The Armenian side never announced that it will solve the issue through military action. Just the opposite: Armenia has always said that it is prepared to resolve this issue through negotiations and through peaceful methods. And if Azerbaijan is not prepared for that, then the Armenian side and the Armenian defense minister have clearly stated that Armenia will take preventive- aggressive- actions. This means that logical defensive actions will take place,” Azeri studies expert Taron Hovhannisyan said during a press conference.
“If you feel that your people are facing a threat, then you take preventive measures that intend to cause suppression, not aggression. This is the situation overall. There haven’t been any notable changes at the border. Azerbaijan announced yesterday that a soldier died at the Nakhichevan border. An Azeri deputy claims that the soldier died due to Armenia violating the ceasefire, but there have been many statements about how the soldier did not die in combat but instead as a result of an incident,” the expert added.
According to him, Azerbaijan is currently trying to make the situation tenser along the Nakhichevan border, the Tavush border, and the entire Artsakh border.
