Next generation of ANCA activists leads meeting, resulting in congressional support
Patterson, NJ – Representatives from the Armenian National Committee of New Jersey met with Representative William Pascrell (D-NJ(09)) during August recess. The delegation included ANC of New Jersey Chair James Sahagian, as well as ANC of New Jersey members Ani Tchaghlasian and Roubina Bozoian.
The team of activists discussed the legislative priorities of the Armenian American community of New Jersey with Representative Pascrell and thanked him for his membership on the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues and for his support for continued U.S. aid to Nagorno Karabakh and expanded U.S. assistance for Armenia.
The delegation also encouraged Representative Pascrell to co-sponsor the Armenian Genocide Resolution (H.Res.296), the Artsakh Travel and Communication Act (H.Res.190) and H.Res.452, which aims to improve relations between the U.S. and Armenia.

Bozoian, an active member of Armenian American community in New Jersey who recently completed the ANCA Leo Sarkisian Internship in DC, not only shared her experience working in D.C. and on the Hill with the Representative, but also took an active lead in the meeting.
“On behalf of the ANC of New Jersey, we want to thank the Congressman for really listening to our concerns and delivering on his promises to support the legislative initiatives that are important to the Armenian American community of New Jersey. We are thrilled to report that he cosponsored H.Res.190, the Artsakh Travel and Communication Act, and H.Res.452 on U.S.-Armenia relations already,” said Bozoian.
The delegation of activists discussed the active Armenian American community of New Jersey as well as upcoming events in the district, extending an invitation to Representative Pascrell and his staff to come and meet more members of the community.
“We truly appreciate the support that was a direct result of this meeting and most of all, I am in awe of the dedication that our team of activists display on an ongoing basis as they are helping drive these initiatives. I’m incredibly proud of Roubina who not only attended the meeting, but also took an active role in leading the meeting, including post-meeting follow up. She has clearly grown in her role as an activist and I know we have the ANCA Leo Sarkisian Internship to thank for that,” said Sahagian, Chair, ANC of New Jersey.
