There are rumors that Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan will be the next to resign. Reporters asked Tonoyan about this during an interview, to which he responded, “Let the rumors circulate.” When asked if he is denying that he will resign, Tonoyan said, “I am carrying out my responsibilities. I will not leave my work unfinished and I will not decrease the amount of responsibilities I have. I do not have any intention of resigning.” When asked how high he believes his chances are of being removed, the minister said that he cannot answer that.
Reporters mentioned that, although Tonoyan says he will not resign, the media is already trying to determine who will replace him. Tonoyan was asked about what this means to him. He said, “You are provoking me. No one lasts forever.”
He said that he does not consider himself to be irreplaceable. When asked if he believes that it’s possible for the Prime Minister to fire him, Davit Tonoyan said, “I do.” When asked if he ever did anything that would cause him to be fired, the minister said, “Why? I don’t have any intentions to, I don’t have any information, and I haven’t been notified of any tasks.”
