Director of the Arabkir Medical Center Ara Babloyan does not exclude the possibility that the child with HIV got infected at his center.
“It was discovered at the center. Everything else is being examined, including where the child got sick from. The child has been examined many times and the infection was not discovered. No one was able to find it. When we examined the child using the most innovative methods, we found it. The child came to us with a strong case of immunodeficiency,” Ara Babloyan told Aravot Daily.
When asked if he excludes the possibility of the child getting infected at the medical center, Babloyan said, “I cannot exclude anything because we need to examine everything in order to understand where it came from. I cannot make decisions on my own.”
According to a statement published by the Investigative Committee on October 16th, 2019, the Arabkir police station received a letter addressed to the General Prosecutor regarding a child who received treatment at the Arabkir Medical Center from the middle of August 2019 until October 11th who was then diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. The child had not been infected until then. According to preliminary data, the child frequently had fevers, and was transported to the Arabkir Medical Center on August 20th, after which she was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
