On November 1, the deputy of the RA NA My Step Faction Mary Galstyan met with the Director of Yerevan Zoo Ruben Khachatryan for clarifying the death cases of the animals happened in the Zoo in recent days and their reasons.
Issues related to the Zoo administration, particularly the necessity of the legal and control mechanisms for decent providing of the animals’ welfare and security were discussed.
Touching upon the stray dogs’ attack cases happened on the territory of the Zoo on October 31 and on November 1, the Director has noted that the problems are many: no fencing of the whole territory of the Zoo, and works have already started in that direction. According to him, the legislative regulations on the wild animals being kept in captivity are also necessary to reconsider.
The RA NA deputy expressed readiness to address with a letter to the Mayor of Yerevan for intensifying the control of the animals’ security in the Zoo.
