Protesting students to the minister: ‘You forgot who brought you into power and who can remove you from power’

November 14,2019 21:21

Youth protests continue in front of the Armenian government building demanding the resignation of Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan. The protesters placed a symbolic chair in front of the government building. “These authorities, who came into power because of the people’s movement, stated many times that they are not clinging to their chairs and they are prepared to leave when the people demand it. Arayik Harutyunyan said in an interview several days ago that he will only resign when he finds that his work is insufficient. Arayik Harutyunyan, you forgot who brought you into power and who can remove you from power!” one of the leading protesters said over the megaphone, which was followed by applause.

“The people are demanding your resignation and you have to vacate your position. Mr. Arayik Harutyunyan, you lied when you said that you aren’t clinging to your seat. You are clinging to it very much!” a young protester said.

A member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s youth wing, Christine Vardanyan, noted that the chair the protesters brought will remain in front of the government building because it symbolizes Arayik Harutyunyan being attached to his seat. The protesting students called upon people to not darken their movement and to not tie it with any corruption.
