ԵՌԱԳՈՅՆ. A painting by Russian-Armenian seascape artist Hovhannes (Ivan) Aivazovsky has been auctioned off at Christie’s for £491,000 ($635,000), TASS reports.
Signed and dated Aivazovsky/1873, “Sunset over Ischia” was sold in the Christie’s Important Russian Art event.
The canvas was initially estimated to sell for £300,000-500,000.
Total revenues from selling of Russian art totaled £ 12 million.
