“I want to invite Mehriban Aliyeva to Artsakh,” Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan’s wife, Anna Hakobyan, announced at the ‘Women’s role in the peacemaking process: opportunities and challenges’ international conference. Anna Hakobyan answered a question about First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva’s aggressive response to the ‘Women For Peace’ campaign.
“Yes, you are right. The first lady of Azerbaijan’s response to my activities will always be aggressive, and she still has not given a response as far as whether or not she will join the ‘Women For Peace’ campaign. Nor has she said anything about if she will also be a supporter of peace and will campaign for the conflict to be resolved peacefully,” Hakobyan said, adding that she does not know the reason for this because as a woman and a mother, she cannot imagine a woman who will not speak in favor of peace, but instead will be in favor of war.
Referring to one of Mehriban Aliyeva’s recent posts about how she dreams of listening to mugham in Stepanakert, Anna Hakobyan said that she is prepared to make the Azeri first lady’s dream come true. “She can be our guest. The Armenian people know how to welcome and accept guests. One of our main gestures of hospitality is through greeting our guests with their national music. We can also perform mugham and make her dream of listening to her favorite mugham in Stepanakert come true.”

If Mehriban Aliyeva accepts this invitation, Anna Hakobyan is prepared to go to Baku, and this will be the best example of the UN 1325 resolution worldwide.
But if Aliyeva intends to listen to mugham in Stepanakert as a result of war, Anna Hakobyan is convinced that this dream will not come true. “If they start a new war, there will likely be new villages that they will also end up dreaming about listening to mugham in.”
