Journalists asked the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan if the police’s actions against the youth demanding his resignation were appropriate. “I believe that law enforcement and activists can give the best answer. According to my sources, the police worked appropriately, and the rest worked in accordance with their protests and announcements,” Arayik Harutyunyan said.
He spoke about a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation AYF central administration member, Christine Vardanyan, who gave him a metro ticket during a discussion on changes in the education system. “The behavior of the representative of the ARF’s youth wing demonstrated that they are not interested in discussions. We found out that something similar was going to happen during that meeting, which is why we invited them to this platform, especially since they had already registered with this platform two days ago. They spoke about what they wished to, which mainly had to do with changes. We either responded or we are acting upon it.”
Regarding the fact that demands for his resignation continue to remain on the agenda, Harutyunyan noted, “Every political party has its agenda and the other political parties and officials have the opportunity to decide whether or not they will be a part of that agenda.”
Arayik Harutyunyan then described the youth’s protests. “This is a fake agenda. This is an attempt for some political parties to resurrect themselves, but their attempts are futile and this is not a good agenda. I gave them this advice a while ago, but it’s a pity that they didn’t listen.”
