ARMENPRESS. The Investigations Committee has charged the Mayor of Dilijan with misconduct and falsifications.
According to a statement issued by the law enforcement agency, the mayor’s actions in 2005 led to 75,9 million drams in damages to the state.
Investigators say the mayor forged official documents on leasing a state owned building and deliberately auctioned the contract off to a company registered under the name of a family member of one of his subordinates. The company, in turn, was opened only 30 days before the action took place. The contract was in force for more than ten years, but the company did not make any actions for renovating it as planned under the contract, and the mayor did not take action.
75,927,012 drams in damages was inflicted during the period.
A court approved to remand the mayor into custody but also confirmed bail as an alternative.
The Investigations Committee said they continue investigating.
