EU NEIGHBOURS . EU statement on Ukrainian Airlines Flight PS752 crash in Iran
On 11 January, the EU issued a statement following the crash of Ukrainian Airlines Flight PS752 in proximity to the Iranian capital, Tehran, on 8 January 2020.
“The European Union acknowledges the statements made by the Iranian authorities taking responsibility for the crash of Ukrainian International Airlines Flight PS 752 on 8 January,” the EU Spokesperson said. The EU further added that it deplored the tragedy and reiterated condolences to the families and loved ones of the flight passengers.
“In view of the commitments given by President Rouhani, the EU expects that Iran will continue to cooperate fully and undertake a comprehensive and transparent investigation, which should abide by international standards, into how this tragedy occurred,” highlighted the EU, adding that “appropriate measures need to be taken to ensure that such a horrible accident can never occur again”.
