Georgian Orthodox Church celebrated the Feast of Baptism of the Lord

On January 19, 2020, Rev. Father Archimandrite Kirakos Davtyan, Vicar of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia presided over the Sunday Divine Liturgy celebrated by Rev. Father Tatev Marukyan at St. Etchmiadzin church in Tbilisi, Armenian Diocese in Georgia.

The day was festive for the Orthodox Church. On January 19, the Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of Baptism of the Lord. Armenians in Georgia are one of the unique peoples of the world who has the opportunity twice a year to celebrate the Baptism of Our Lord Jesus Christ and to be spiritually purified with blessed holy Muron (Chrism).

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Rev. Father, addressing the attendees, touched upon the mystery of the day, spoke again about being free from sins with blessing water and healing the soul and body with the holy water. The Diocesan Vicar congratulated the faithful of the Orthodox Church on the occasion of the Feast of Baptism of the Lord and conveyed the good news of Holy Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the end, Matagh (Thanksgiving Animal Sacrifice) was offered to the faithful in the churchyard.
