EU NEIGHBOURS. A new study on carbon pricing design was launched recently to help the contracting parties of the Energy Community to integrate into the EU energy market. The objective of the study is to assess and design an effective carbon pricing mechanism conducive to decarbonisation of the Energy Community Contracting Parties’ electricity sectors in a cost-effective and socially acceptable way.
Although harmonization of the legal and regulatory framework is underway, the carbon pricing mechanism is still missing. In order to identify the problems, provide relevant recommendations, tackle the challenges and align the countries with European Energy market, the Energy Community decided to conduct the study through active involvement of contracting parties.
