“We are not going to discuss resolutions to the Artsakh conflict that were suggested in the past because they did not work. We are saying that the resolution needs to be acceptable for the three countries. At the moment, no matter what is discussed, it will cause escalation. We are saying that if we want to avoid a regional war in the next 50 to 100 years, we need to find a resolution. For example, Aliyev has espoused hatred for the past several years. He needs to take a step back. If Azerbaijan truly wants there to be peace, he needs to make an effort and think about what he has to offer to us,” My Step deputy, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, and Azeri affairs expert Tatevik Hayrapetan told journalists at the Media Center.

According to the deputy, “Aliyev will have the biggest problem with his own government and the people whom he is trying to deprive of resources.”

“We understand that it is possible for there to be escalation with an opponent like Azerbaijan. Taking that into consideration, we are strengthening our army, but we are also strengthening our positions in the negotiations process. Let no one believe that Armenia is begging for peace. Armenia wants dignified peace,” she said.

“In the past, many resolutions have been discussed. Some of them were public, and some of them were not. Even when we thought that we were close to coming up with a solution, I trust that the Armenian side did not want to concede territory, especially after understanding its destructive nature. Instead, considering Azerbaijan’s maximalist approach, the Armenian side placed its hopes on Azerbaijan’s refusal. We will not use that tactic. We believe that the revolution and the legitimate authorities formed from it are a basis for changing the benchmarks. We are pushing our agenda forward,” the deputy said.

On February 15th, after his meeting with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev in Munich, Nikol Pashinyan published his “Munich Principles” on Facebook.
