Number of people traveling to Armenia via air has decreased dramatically from 6,000 daily to 800

March 27,2020 21:00

At the moment, four Russian airlines and one Belarusian airline are operating in Armenia. The Belarusian airline is carrying out the Minsk-Yerevan flight. The Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Armen Simonyan, spoke about this in the government’s press hall. According to him, there has been a dramatic decrease in the number of people traveling to Armenia. If 6,000 people traveled to Armenia daily as of March 8th, only 800 people are traveling to Armenia via air now.

According to the deputy minister, all railway companies are working as usual except for on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Simonyan said that, as of today, the Yerevan-Gyumri train has ceased operation because there are no passengers whatsoever.

When asked if people are maintaining social distancing on the metro and on trains and whether or not that is being controlled, the deputy minister said, “The trains have carried out the proper measures to ensure that people sit more than one meter apart from one another. The ministry, the South Caucasus Railway, and the inspection bodies are supervising this. If there are any instances where social distancing is not being upheld, people may contact us and we will look into the issue.”
