News spread across the media that a 59-year-old woman died from pneumonia at the Nork Infection Clinical Hospital. According to the news, this woman was from the Alapars village of Kotayk.

The head of the Alapars village, Saribekyan, told Aravot Daily in an interview that there is no official data on why the woman died as of yet, but this is being investigated.

“Her family members are not home. Her son and her husband were placed in quarantine yesterday until they get the results of their tests. The woman has had problems with her health for many years.”

When asked about when she developed pneumonia, the village head said that the woman’s relatives had called an ambulance a few hours before she died. “I do not think that she got to the hospital; she died on the way.”

According to him, no one in the village has the coronavirus, and aside from the two members of the woman’s family, no one else is in quarantine. “We do not have any such cases.”

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, Alina Nikoghosyan, told Aravot Daily that no official information will be provided regarding individuals. “If her relatives have been quarantined, they will be tested, and they will be included in the official data. But we will not provide information on any person or the town they’re from. We will have an online map soon, which will show the regions where there have been confirmed cases and the numbers.”

Regarding news that the woman died at the Nork Infection Clinical Hospital, the spokesperson said, “I cannot provide such information. I suggest you speak to law enforcement to find out where this woman died. Besides that, this is personal information, and people can die from pneumonia. People died from pneumonia before the coronavirus. This is not new.”
