EU NEIGHBOURS. Last week, the EU announced that it will provide a total of €92 million to Armenia to support the country’s immediate and short-term needs.
The EU has also supported the Office of the Armenian Human Rights Defender with 6,000 gloves, 2,300 medical masks, 700 medical shoe covers, 700 respirators, 300 coveralls, 250 safety goggles, 50 medical face shields, 10 boxes of disinfection tablets, 70 litres of hand sanitiser and 5 non-contact infrared thermometers.
The aim of this equipment is to support the safe and uninterrupted work of the institution, its interactions with citizens and its visits to closed institutions during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The emergency procurement of the personal protective equipment for the staff of the Human Rights Defender’s Office has been provided as part of the EU-funded project ‘Promotion and protection of human rights in Armenia’, which is implemented by several UN agencies.
