Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan chaired a consultative meeting, which discussed capital expenditures to be carried out in the fields of education, science, culture and sports in 2020.
Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan noted that the Ministry had been allocated 4.4 billion drams from the state budget for capital expenditures in 2020. The funds will be used to upgrade educational facilities, restore cultural monuments, develop public libraries’ material and technical base, overhaul theater buildings and other areas. The design and estimate documents for several construction activities worth about 4.7 billion drams have already been prepared.
In this context, Urban Development Committee Deputy Chairman Armen Ghularyan reported on the process of developing projects for about 74 educational facilities. He advised that they will have been completed by this late July.
A number of issues were discussed during the exchange of views that followed. The Prime Minister noted that capital expenditures should be implemented with special quality, pace and volume amid the ongoing crisis. This should be facilitated by appropriate design work and tenders. Nikol Pashinyan instructed those responsible to take stock of all finalized projects, clarify the tender procedures and implement them as quickly as possible.
