The Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization (Aleppo-NGO) within the framework of the “Bright Future for Youth” project provided scholarships to 46 young students studying in Armenian universities. The project is funded by the Armenia Round Table Inter-Church Charity Foundation (ART).
As a result of an open call announced in February 2020, in total 102 students applied for the scholarship of the “Bright Future for Youth” project, 69 of which for the reimbursement of the tuition fee for the spring semester. The selection of applicants was made with the participation of Sarkis Bakhian, the Executive Director of Aleppo-NGO, Araks Martirosyan, the Project Coordinator, Karen Nazaryan, Director of the WCC Round Table Foundation, Rubina Devrikyan, Program Manager, and Armen Nersesyan, Educational Program Coordinator of the ”My Step” Foundation.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission conducted the discussion of applications online. The documents submitted by each applicant were minutely studied, taking into account the criteria for providing scholarships according to the project, namely, high academic performance, social activity and socio-economic needs. As a result of the considerations made by the members of the Commission, 46 students representing ten universities were selected. Scholars are citizens of Armenia, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Lebanon.

Supported by WCC Armenia Round Table Charity Foundation, the “Bright Future for Youth” project was launched on 1 February 2020. The project aims to develop the skills of Syrians, Iraqi and other refugees and local youth, by providing them with scholarships, capacity building trainings and ensuring work experience through professional internships.
