Armenia will have an unprecedented number of newly-built and under-construction hospitals. The Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, spoke about this during the session of government. The minister said that, aside from the 12 hospitals that are being built by the Urban Development Committee, two more will be built with the support of the World Bank. Construction for one of them, the Martuni Medical Center, will begin over the next few days.
“Soon, the competition to begin the construction of the Vayots Dzor Medical Center will be announced. These two hospitals will be built from scratch and they will be in accordance with all international standards,” Torosyan said.
He also said that another construction project will begin as soon as the contract is signed with the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development. According to him, a new infection hospital will be built in Vanadzor due to the coronavirus.
According to the minister, this entire process will take 2 to 3 years. “After this is all finished, we practically will not have any medical center in all of Armenia that will need large investments or capital renovation.”
