Captain Sos Paylak Elbakyan, who received a fatal wound from a gunshot fired at the northeastern portion of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, was from the Marmashen village of Shirak. He was the nephew of the leader of the village, Karen Arshakyan. Sos Elbakyan was 28 years old and he was preparing to get married to his girlfriend. One of his relatives spoke about this with Aravot Daily.
The relative said that Sos spoke to his mother every day. His mother called this morning and he told her, “Mom, everything is fine. I am drinking coffee right now. Relax. When I finish, I’ll be going back out to push them back. Everything will be fine. Don’t worry.”
He was his parents’ younger son. His two sisters and elder brother were a lot older than him by around 16-17 years.
“Sos was so intelligent. He was ambitious and he loved his life as a soldier. He quickly rose in the ranks as a soldier. He graduated from the Vazgen Sargsyan Military University. He was taken to the Tavush region a few years ago and received the rank of a lieutenant. Then he became a captain and was expected to achieve even higher ranks. He said that he would move to Yerevan when he reached his next rank. This was his dream as he prepared for his wedding,” his relative said emotionally.
