Voters in the United States and all over the world are guided by stories, myths, and anecdotes. Whatever you want to call it, I think the meaning is clear. And in that case, Trump definitely has advantages because his theories are clear and understandable for the majority of regular people (American “Pauls”). The coronavirus is a Chinese game, so Chinese people need to disappear. Migrants are threatening our demographics, so won’t let them come to our country. Mexicans are threatening us from the south, so we will build a wall and we won’t let them in. And, like all populists, Trump doesn’t watch his tongue. For example, he recently called the Democratic candidate for Vice President, Senator Kamala Harris, “nasty.” The people like that, too; they enjoy Trump’s “destructive” vocabulary. Therefore, American voters will not be guided by Trump’s or Biden’s “100 facts,” but instead, they will be guided by anecdotes about the Chinese, Mexicans, and migrants. In that case, Trump is in a better position.
