Aravot Daily asked the Armenian State University of Economics whether or not there were any confirmed coronavirus cases among the university’s professors. Despite the fact that the Academic Council determined that all undergraduate and graduate courses must be held online, our sources said that professors still visit the university.
The ASUE media confirmed that a case of the coronavirus was confirmed at the university. The university informed the Armenian Association of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It has implemented all the required guidelines. They also said that they are unable to provide any other information due to the fact that it contains personal details.
According to Aravot Daily’s sources, there have been cases or problems among older professors. Some of them are in self-isolation, quarantine, or receiving treatment in hospitals.
An associate professor from the Faculty of Philosophy and Armenian History, Dr. Marieta Nikoghosyan, did not wish to provide any comments. She said that she has double pneumonia. She is currently in the hospital and did not wish to speak. According to our sources, she was hospitalized three days ago.

The chair of higher mathematics, Dr. Arkadi Hayrapetyan confirmed that he also caught the virus. He is currently receiving treatment and will soon be released from the hospital. Regarding the available and online classes, he said, “The classes for students in their first year must be available. Then, they will be online.”
According to Aravot Daily’s sources, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Marketing Ara Mkrtchyan is also in self-isolation, among others. We were unable to reach Dr. Mkrtchyan.
