‘What shelter, who’s scared? There is no panic’: Residents of Kapan are calm

October 10,2020 14:50

“Around 10:30 AM this morning, I was collecting walnuts in my garden when I heard a loud boom. I saw something in the sky, and that’s when the air raid sirens went off,” a resident of the Chapni village of Syunik told Aravot Daily. The Chapni village is near the Artsvanik village.

According to an official statement, UAVs were fired at the Artsvanik village of Syunik and Yeritsvank of Artsakh.

According to the resident, she saw the UAV explode in the air before she went into the shelter. “Our soldiers shot it down. Is the enemy bored? We’re living our peaceful lives. Live your lives, too. What do you want from us?” she said.

When asked if residents are currently in shelters, she said, “What shelter? Who’s scared? There’s no panic. Now is the harvest season, so we’re all out in our gardens. We are going about our daily lives. We’ll be careful when the air raid sirens go off, but we won’t stay in the shelters forever.”

“I’m currently on my balcony drinking coffee with my neighbors. After I relax for a little, I’ll go back to my garden. Unfortunately, I can’t send a picture because they said it’s not safe,” the woman said.

Residents of the Artsvanik village said that they heard 5-6 explosions this morning. Lessons at the village school are no longer in session.

The residents were in their shelters, but they are now going about their daily activities.
