Women’s rights organizations have organized protests by a number of accredited embassies in Armenia urging governments and parliaments to recognize the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh as the only lasting and reliable guarantee of the right to life and security of the Armenian people living in Artsakh. Among the protesters were women from Artsakh who were forced to leave due to hostilities and the targeting of civilians. Their husbands and other relatives are at the frontlines.
Those gathered by the EU delegation office in Armenia said that Azerbaijan has targeted civilians, hospitals, and cultural and religious centers. In addition, there are terrorists fighting on Azerbaijan’s side. The women demanded the recognition of Artsakh’s independence, which is a guarantee of their right to live in their homeland.
Some of the protesters were able to meet with the EU ambassador, Andrea Victorin. The protesters also read their message, which they also relayed to Andrea Victorin. It particularly condemned the neutral position of many countries towards the threat of ethnic extermination of the Armenian people in their historical homelands.
“The international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh is urgent, especially considering the fact that we are facing a humanitarian disaster,” one of the protesters said. People were also protesting by other countries’ embassies.
