Where does Artsrun Hovhannisyan’s confidence in Armenian victory come from?

Where does the confidence that Armenia will win come from? The head of the Mantashov Entrepreneurs Union, Vahram Mirakyan, asked this question to the representative of the Ministry of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan. Hovhannisyan was participating in the live seminar on The Economy During the War at Mirakyan’s invitation.

“During this stage of the war, it may be a little difficult to tell people that we will win due to the fact that we haven’t carried out offensive operations yet. This is because we are going to liberate another village. Yesterday, we liberated one village, and tomorrow, we will liberate another. But rationally, it is not difficult to understand that the enemy with its large potential of Turks and terrorists, huge technological advantage, aircraft, and more did not plan to fight for 40 days and only “capture” part of the Araks valley. They jump from village to village in the forests, suffer daily losses, and are unable to succeed while dreaming about Shushi. They post that they’ve taken Shushi every day, but they never have,” Hovhannisyan said.

According to Hovhannisyan, we can say with confidence that the General Staff of Azerbaijan or, say, the General Staff of Turkey did not envision the results that have been confirmed or the places where we retreated over 40 days. “I am completely confident, and there is intelligence data and military logic that comes from the knowledge of military science from experience. They planned the war over the course of one or two operations that would’ve taken 15 or 20 days. Even if they didn’t have any plans for southern Armenia for whatever reason, they definitely planned to take Artsakh in its entirety. They took into consideration a million factors, including the Treaty of Kars, the US presidential elections, weather conditions, and more. This did not happen. Not only did this not happen, but the infantry of the Azerbaijani military was shocked. It is trying to send separate divisions to carry out operations, but they have not been successful over the past three to four days. People have already begun discussing this on Azerbaijani social media. They are criticizing Aliyev and saying that they’ve had enough of him including villages from Zangelan and Jabrayil on the list of “liberated territories” for the third or fourth time. They’re asking why Karvachar, Martuni, and Shushi haven’t been liberated. All of this is our victory. Carrying out strategies to exhaust the enemy, even if it means retreating in several areas, is a big deal.”
