In these days of escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, we come across situations when the Red Cross sign is attached on different vehicles with humanitarian aid collected by individuals, private groups and companies.
We would like to remind that, according to the “Law of the Republic of Armenia About use and protection of emblems of the Red Cross and Red Crescent”, individuals and legal entities in the territory of the Republic of Armenia are not authorized to use the Red Cross as a protective or distinctive sign. Therefore, attaching the Red Cross emblem on the private cars or objects violates Armenian law, as well as the Geneva Conventions Additional Protocols I and II, and the rules of use of the emblem contained in international humanitarian law. Please avoid such activity.
The Red Cross emblem, as a distinctive sign or signal, is used to indicate the affiliation of a given person, vehicle, structure or other objects.
