Unlike French embassy, Russian embassy did not receive Hadrut residents

November 12,2020 23:00

The residents of Hadrut who were forced to evacuate as a result of Azerbaijani military aggression carried out protests by the Russian embassy in Armenia regarding the fact that the Hadrut region would be given to Azerbaijan in accordance with the statement signed between Nikol Pashinyan, Ilham Aliyev, and Vladimir Putin, as well as the fact that the people of Artsakh have lost their home and their rights.

A representative of the embassy approached them and said that the embassy is only able to accept a protest letter and pass it along to the ambassador. “I am not authorized to provide commentary.”

The residents of Hadrut stressed that they were expecting different treatment from Russia, a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. The representative, however, repeated that he will take the letter and pass it along to his authorities.

“This treatment is strange, to say the least, but we will not give up,” the protesters said.

“We also intend to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs. It seems that the battlefield is theirs, but they are silent,” Meri Davtyan told reporters.

The residents of Hadrut first went to the Embassy of France, where Ambassador Lacote not only received and listened to them, but he also made noteworthy evaluations regarding the signed statement.
