January 25,2021 17:45

The organisation of the Assembly’s work in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic with supplementary working methods and arrangements for the conduct of remote meetings; election observations; the 2020 Václav Havel Human Rights Prize; budgetary matters; and gender equality in the functioning of the Assembly, were among the topics covered in the progress report of the PACE’s Bureau and Standing Committee, presented today by Ian Liddell-Grainger (United Kingdom, EC), in a plenary debate.

This report, which reviews the work of the Assembly’s subsidiary bodies, exceptionally covered a whole year of activities.

During this period (31 January 2020-21 January 2021) the Parliamentary Assembly has taken a series of measures – on an exceptional and provisional basis – to adapt its working procedures in response to the exceptional situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, in order to maintain its activities.

The Assembly also discussed in more detail the observation of the parliamentary elections in Georgia held on 31 October 2020, on the basis of a report presented by Tiny Kox (Netherlands, UEL).
