“Right now, I am in my car at the main entrance of the Ministry of Defense. I have blocked the entrance,” the relative of a soldier missing in action, Arsen Ghukasyan, said during a Facebook live video. The relatives of other soldiers missing in action were also at the Ministry of Defense building. They have been at the ministry since this morning because they have requested an interview with the Minister of Defense, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, to discuss important issues regarding the search process.
“They made us wait there for over two hours by telling us that the minister isn’t there. None of the deputy ministers even tried to meet us. They’re telling us to leave, and that they will receive us at 6:00 PM. We told them that the issue is very important and very serious. No one will receive us. If we come at 6, they will tell us to come back at 7 or tomorrow. We have already been through that,” Arsen Ghukasyan said, calling upon the relatives of soldiers missing in action to quickly gather by the Ministry of Defense to block off all the entrances and exits so that the representatives of this state body will stop misleading them.
The relatives of soldiers missing in action claim that state bodies have done nothing to find the soldiers or their bodies. Instead, they are more concerned about their positions of power.
“There are issues that are directly connected with the Ministry of Defense, but these people are more concerned about their own issues. Neither we nor our children exist for them,” Arsen Ghukasyan said, adding that according to their data, the Ministry of Defense has not provided any documentation after February 26th that determines the return of 30 prisoners of war to Armenia. However, they are “pushing the document on each other and refusing to sign it.”
