According to political analyst Edgar Elbakyan, Turkey’s presence in Azerbaijan is also visible on a linguistic level. During the ‘Armenia and Turkey in the South Caucasus: Realities and Risks’ conference organized by the Armenian Project scientific-educational NGO in cooperation with the YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies, he used the example of the phrase “Allahu Akbar” was often repeated by Azerbaijani soldiers during the 44-Day War, which had not occurred beforehand, to show this. Or, when they began to glorify the image of Ilham Aliyev, which was borrowed from the Turkish environment. The other example is the Arabic word fateh, which means ‘conqueror.’ Edgar Elbakyan drew attention to the fact that the Azerbaijani soldiers who fought in Shushi were referred to as ‘Shusha Fateh,’ the conquerors of Shushi.
In the political analyst’s opinion, Aliyev also has internal problems. He is promoting Armenophobia and trying to maintain his legitimacy around the axis of Armenophobia. Elbakyan explained, “The issue is that on the one hand, the actions of the current Azerbaijani authorities may be questioned internally in connection with the victory in Artsakh. On the other hand, there will be a struggle to help in that victory. Russia, having a military base in the de facto territory of Azerbaijan, will try to reap dividends from it, as will Turkey in its turn.”
