The acting Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, Vahram Dumanyan, and the Lebanese Minister of Youth and Sports, Vartine Ohanian, signed a letter stating the intention to cooperate. The acting Armenian minister prioritized the signing of this letter, which, in his opinion, reaffirms their determination that there is a desire for active cooperation between the two countries in the fields of youth and sport, taking into account the friendly relations, long-standing close ties between the two countries, and the fact that Lebanon has a wonderful Armenian community.
Vartine Ohanian also emphasized the importance of the letter signed between the two countries. “The friendly relations between the two nations is historical, and we must strengthen our cooperation and relations,” Ohanian said.
The Lebanese minister said that she is also proud to represent Armenia in Lebanon on the occasion of the commemoration of the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. She also expressed hope that the letter will be followed by practical steps very soon. Answering journalists’ questions about what problems Lebanese youth have today, Vartine Ohanian said that they are mainly economic, adding that the unstable political situation also affects the youth as they have employment problems.
“The youth, unfortunately, is not able to serve its potential within the country, which is why they are looking toward other countries,” Vartine Ohanian said. She added that the main task of the Lebanese Ministry of Youth and Sport is to prevent the emigration of Lebanese youth. She expressed hope that the agreement will be implemented, which will allow doors to open for Armenian youth in Lebanon in Lebanese youth in Armenia.

Ohanian also emphasized the importance of both countries sharing their experiences with one another. Vahram Dumanyan emphasized that the ties between the two countries are not new, and he said that a basketball competition recently took place in Armenia, which the Lebanese team had won.
