Eco-city to be built in Gyumri: Investor from the USA

May 12,2021 01:30

The mayor of Gyumri, Samvel Balasanyan, told Aravot Daily in an interview that an eco-city will be built in Gyumri. The investor is Todd Fabacher from New York, who represents the Digital Pomegranate organization.

“We will have a very interesting plan. We will soon prevent it during a city council session. I don’t want to reveal too much, but Todd Fabacher of New York wants to construct an eco-city in Gyumri. Of course, we will do everything to make sure that he comes here and the city is built. We have a great location for this that we will give to him upon the city council’s confirmation. We will be able to sign a contract before he brings forth his blueprint.

The location will be the “Uri Gund” area, which is 21 hectares. He filed an application where he asked for a plot of land. We considered that area.

Of course, Todd Fabacher will come and present his plan at the city council session. It will be better to hear the details from him, but I can say that there is a foundation and 17 organizations. It goes without saying that this will create jobs, and there will be residential areas, arts, and crafts, which will correspond to the culture of our city.

It is a wonderful project that we have been discussing for several years. We were finally able to make an announcement,” the mayor said.

This is the first time that plans for an eco-city will be developed in Armenia. The head architect of Gyumri, Henrik Gasparyan, spoke about this with Aravot.

“The eco-city must have all the components, including residences, social structures, landscape architecture, production, business, and there can also be agriculture. All of this must be focused. We can also implement a recycling system and solar power. The natural landscape must be utilized because there are fountains and lakes in the “Uri Gund” area. We will speak about the project in more detail once the city council approves it,” Henrik Gasparyan said.

The majority of eco-cities throughout the world are built in China, and they are considered to be cities of the future where comfortable conditions for living are developed along with innovative technology.
