What did Russia offer and how did the Armenian side respond: Makunts presents her information

May 20,2021 21:09

“Yes, I will sign that document because it completely corresponds to Armenia’s national interests,” the acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during the session of government, confirming that there is a document in circulation.

In response to a question from journalists regarding the content of that document, My Step faction deputy Lilit Makunts replied, “The Prime Minister spoke with other emphasis about any document that is 100 percent within the interests of the Republic of Armenia. He noted that if the conditions are met, the issue he mentioned under those conditions may 100 percent be within the interests of Armenia. In other words, it is important to record the conditions, the acceptance of which, of course, is mandatory. According to my information, the Russian side has proposed to Armenia to set up a joint trilateral commission to discuss delimitation and demarcation issues. According to my sources, the Armenian side responded that any issue, the opportunity to create a working group, and the possibility of discussing that can only take place if the Azerbaijani Armed Forces leave the territory of Armenia.”

When asked about how the document has been presented, but its points are not presented, and, in fact, a document was negotiated without informing the public, Makunts responded, “I suggest that we refer to sources that have been officially presented instead of dubious ones. The Prime MInister said that if the conditions proposed by Armenia are accepted, only then will it be within the interests of Armenia. I do not know the details. I am reporting what I know.”

When asked if it is possible to conclude from her statements that the document only refers to one point- the creation of a commission- because according to information that has spread across the Internet, the issue of conceding villages in the Tavush and Ararat provinces has been discussed. Makunts said that according to her sources, such issues are not being discussed. “It is difficult to predict that if we think about what was published that you are referring to, then there was nothing to prevent these people from publishing that part of the document, if it is a document, but to publish it. As far as I know, the proposal was made to start demarcation and delimitation works with the establishment of a commission, to which the response of the Republic of Armenia was the complete withdrawal of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces from the territory of the Republic of Armenia.”

Journalists reminded her that society learned about the November 9th document from Mikayel Minasyan, but she considers him to be a doubtful source. Makunts said, “It is not appropriate to ask me questions about specific individuals.”

The opposition invited an extraordinary session. Will the ruling party participate? In response, Makunts said, “When they present it, I do not see any reason to oppose it. They will present their bases, and we will see. We haven’t seen it yet.”
