Meaningless conversations

July 03,2021 11:01

It is necessary to work and fight against the anthrax infection found in cows in the Shirak province. Efforts need to be made to put out the fires in the Khosrov forests. The accident must be dealt with so that sewage water does not come out of the pipes in Yerevan’s Kanaker-Zeytun district. (By the way, does no one wish to force the Minister of Nature Protection to drink that water, or throw it on the mayor of Yerevan? Obviously, our NGOs have lost their former enthusiasm).

In short, it is difficult to work. You need professionalism, skills, and diligence. For example, no ‘commissar’ with a leather jacket will be able to perform surgeries in Armen Charchyan’s place because surgeons do not usually work with hammers. No street speaker will replace diplomats in negotiations, and no one will take the circumstances of a case lightly in a judge’s place, even if they are wholeheartedly committed to the ideas of the revolution.

But what is easy to do? It is easy to talk and blow air. The “people,” apparently, gave these authorities a mandate to talk meaninglessly three years ago, and on June 20th, that mandate was reconfirmed. What does the government, its propagandists, and supporters like to talk about? Well, the most popular topic, as you know, is “punishing the former regime.” Moreover, since it has been talked about for three years and not much has been done, now the thesis of “punishment” has slightly changed: “before we were kind and forgiving, which is why it wasn’t possible to punish anyone, but now everything will be different. Since the main culprits for our failure were the judges, then we will change all the judges and the new judges will “close” all the people we mentioned.” Gagik Jhangiryan was given the order for the “operation,” who is, of course, a good professional and he understands how utopian those programs are, and the case will not go beyond the popular talk of “vetting,” “lustration,” “building the judiciary from scratch,” and “rule of law.” By the way, judgments about the “confiscation of illegal property” are just as lifeless and unprofessional. It is desirable that the de facto leader of the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia, who was appointed to replace the overly-independent Ruben Vardazaryan, brings all this to the attention of the authorities.

Theoretically, yes, it is possible to dismiss all the courts, create triumvirates consisting of loyal Civil Contract members, and “catch” people according to the list that Pashinyan will send to that triumvirate under the joyful shouts of the crowd. But that experience will end very badly for our state and especially for the government. It is clear that such a thing will not be done. They are just talking.
