‘There is an order to silence me at any cost, I continue to demand the uncovering of Hadrut’s surrender’: Manakh

July 27,2021 15:30

“Yes, I consider this to be political persecution, although I am not involved in politics. However, politics is involved with me by starting to display such insidious behavior. They frequently take me into custody and release me. This is the truth,” Artur Ayvazyan (Manakh), a participant in the 2020 war, told Aravot Daily.

Artur Ayvazyan recently was released from detainment. According to the Investigative Committee, in June of 2021, during a Facebook live video in which he spoke about the Armenian soldier who was beaten by Azerbaijanis, he cursed at the Armenian military-political leadership, the acting prime minister of Armenia, and other individuals who would have voted in favor of the acting prime minister’s political party during the snap elections on June 20th. In this manner, he grossly violated public order by threatening to use violence against these individuals and their circle of people.

Ayvazyan expressed conviction during the interview that the reason for his persecution is raising issues in the post-war period, and in particular, the fact that in the film produced by journalist Nairi Hokhikyan, he spoke with facts about the deliberate surrender of Hadrut and Shushi to the enemy. “In that film, everything I said about the whole post-war phase was generalized. I did not give up my position in the conditions of a nationwide coma. I do not rule out that they will even take the step of physical destruction, because there is an order to silence me at any cost. It did not work and it will not work. I am a citizen and freedom fighter who demands the uncovering of Hadrut’s surrender,” said Artur Ayvazyan.
