The National Assembly held an extraordinary session on Tuesday. On the agenda is the draft law on making amendments to the law “On approving the annual and complex programs of measures for restoration, preservation, reproduction and use of Lake Sevan ecosystem” authored by the government. At the beginning of the session, the leader of the Armenia alliance, Seyran Ohanyan, stated, “We offer to organize a closed or open discussion with the participation of responsible persons, taking into account that there is contradictory news about the border situation. Let’s find out, let’s dispel the people’s concern.”
Andranik Tevanyan from the Armenia alliance added, “The issue on the agenda is important, but there are also security issues. Aliyev toughened his position on the peace agreement, demarcation, and delimitation. He demands that Armenia recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, which also includes Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. He has gone so far as to demand that Moscow not supply weapons to Armenia. It is puzzling that Armenia does not respond to such statements. This is an inadmissible situation.”
Gegham Manukyan from the Armenia alliance also stated, “Now, the events in Afghanistan are in the center of the world, while there is no official response from Armenia. The issue of the presence of Armenian peacekeepers in Afghanistan is also questionable.” Andranik Kocharyan from the Civil Contract answered that the Armenian peacekeepers returned to Armenia from Afghanistan back in March. Regarding the proposal of the Armenia alliance, NA Speaker Alen Simonyan stated that they will discuss it. “We must discuss that within our faction and with the I Have Honor alliance.”
