News..am Lilit Minasyan, an MP from the majority “Civil Contract” Faction in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, on Wednesday made a Facebook post about the flight of an Azerbaijani airplane through the airspace of Armenia.
“The allegations that Iran has closed its airspace for Azerbaijan, whereas Armenia opened [its] are wrong.
Iran has closed only the possibility of military flights, whereas the [Iranian] air[space] remains open for civil flights being conducted from Azerbaijan.
Armenia’s airspace has never been closed to Azerbaijani civilian air transportation. It was Azerbaijan that decided in 2013, on its own initiative, to suspend air transportation through Armenia’s airspace in order to cause economic damage to us (the use of airspace implies certain fees), whereas as of yesterday, it has decided to resume carrying out air transportation through our air[space].

The Azerbaijani airspace, in turn, has not been closed to Armenia’s airlines. Simply, Armenia has refused to carry out transport through the territory of Azerbaijan. In the same was, we can, for example, start using their airspace as of today,” Minasyan wrote, in particular.
