Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahan and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov held a phone conversation on Saturday, discussing issues of mutual interest including next Vienna talks and current developments in the region.
During the conversation, Amir-Abdollahian praised Russia’s constructive and positive positions toward Iran’s nuclear issue and said, “Prompt progress in Vienna talks requires the European and American sides to take realistic and constructive approach by avoiding extravagance and extraordinary demands”.
He stressed that Iran will follow up its demands vigorously in next Vienna talks.
He pointed out that there should be no doubt in the seriousness of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the talks and the need for all parties to return to their obligations.

Pointing to US’ new sanctions against Iran, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized, “Tehran is deeply skeptical about US’ intentions, however we will return to fulfill all our obligations if the American side fully returns to its commitments”.
He also highlighted that Iran will continue to its technical cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Sergey Lavrov, for his part, stressed on the importance of reviving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and said, “All parties, especially the US should adhere to their commitments”.
During the conversation, Iranian and Russian foreign ministers have also stressed on the necessity of the formation of an all-inclusive government in Afghanistan.
