At the press conference held at “Henaran” press club, former Deputy Minister of Defense, member of the RPA Council Artak Zakaryan noted. “At the moment, large North-South geopolitical corridors are colliding in the region. This means that there are much bigger interests and at that point of conflict, our so-called authorities are not able to cope or protect the interests of our country and our people, and week by week, the situation in our country is getting worse.”
According to him, over the past year, Azerbaijan has been intensively implementing its long-term programs in Artsakh and trying to divert and close all possibilities for further settlement of the Artsakh issue, and the Armenian government is unable to find the right time and place to reverse the process and stop the anti-Armenian process in Azerbaijan and the eviction of Armenians from Artsakh. According to him, our only point of reference in the Artsakh issue is the Russian peacekeeping and the formal existence of the OSCE Minsk Group.
Referring to the Azerbaijani customs checkpoint on the Goris-Kapan road two days ago, Artak Zakaryan notes that it happened as a surprise, but also reminded that they have said about it several times about a year after the November 9, 2020 capitulation act and its, so to speak, the first swallows were the obstruction and taxation of IRI car traffic. On this occasion, he has questions for the government. “And who decided that Azerbaijan should do it? Where was it decided that it is an Azerbaijani territory with some unknown maps? Meanwhile, the so-called Prime Minister has already mentioned several times at the government session that it is the territory of Azerbaijan. If there is no demarcation or delimitation, there are no conclusions of the relevant working group, agreements, signed documents or proposals made to governments, documents based on it signed by governments or heads of state, ratification by the National Assembly, or public discussions. Who decided that the territory belongs to the Azerbaijanis and they should carry out customs controls or omissions in accordance with their legislation?
This is a crime against the state, which is committed openly, deceiving society and diverting the public’s attention to various, unreal, false, and fabricated problems. As a result, Nikol surrendered Syunik, which after Artsakh was the most important strategic card of the Republic of Armenia and the key issue for the existence of the state of Armenia, the security of the Armenian people, and one of the guarantees of economic, food, communication, energy, and physical security. He surrendered it because either such a task is set before him by the forces that brought him to power, or he does not have enough knowledge, after signing a capitulation act he does not have the political weight and authority to be able to defend the interests of his chosen people. Part of the assembly that elected him, even today, in those bordering areas will find themselves in a blockade or a semi-blockade.”
