“The demarcation and delimitation has been done from Goris to the Iranian border. According to the protocol signed on December 18, 2020 by Vagharshak Harutyunyan, we have already recognized the Goris-Kapan, Kapan-Shvanidzor border, where Azerbaijan has taken half of the border from us,” former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan said at the Mirror press club. According to him, “Let me say that it does not correspond to reality and that road, from Goris to Kapan, from Kapan to Chakaten, was one hundred percent in the territory of the Republic of Armenia. Let me insist that that road was built during the time of Karen Demirchyan and Kochinyan. There is information about land allocations in the Institute of Transport.
These land allocations were made by the Council of Ministers of the USSR of Armenia, which was approved by Azerbaijan, and not because it is Azerbaijani land, but because Azerbaijan started to the left of the road and had to agree. And this man (meaning Nikol Pashinyan: N.B.) signed a document, according to which the right side of the road is Azerbaijan, and the left side of the road is Azerbaijan.” Bagratyan claimed that cargo transportation with Iran has been stopped. Referring to the new road, Bagratyan said that the government has built a road, Goris-Halidzor-Tatev-Aghavni-Kapan, but only cars can pass through that road.
“Heavy trucks, especially with trailers, can not cross at all. No matter how much they improve the road, they can not cross it. There are many twists and turns, and in some places it rises to the top of the mountain and descends. In other words, we will not have serious trade and economic ties with Iran until the Sisian-Bargushat-Kajaran-Litchk road is built, where there should be 9 tunnels and 18 bridges.”
