Historian and diplomat Zhirayr Liparityan stated that on November 9 we surrendered, and now the question is what kind of state we should be after that. During the lecture following the presentation of the book “Armenia-Turkey; Statehood, History, Politics,” Zhirayr Liparityan responded to the question, “After these concessions, what should be the price for Armenia for peace, normalization of relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan?”
“The question is how we should behave. Let’s say that these people are bad, we have nothing to give up, should we fight incessantly or try to resolve the issue by finally giving peace to these people?” In response to the observation that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan exchange messages with each other.

Turkey constantly mentions that Armenia-Turkey relations can be normalized, but for that a corridor is needed, Zhirayr Liparityan said, “We choose what we want to choose. Erdogan said in an official statement that they respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia. It is not official regarding the corridor, it is a political statement: what does a corridor mean? We do not know what a corridor means. The issue is presented as black and white: we either have to give up a corridor and our sovereignty or we need to open all our borders. The statement said that there should be a corridor under the control of Russian border guards. This is a special status, it does not necessarily mean sovereignty.”
According to the diplomat, it is our duty to prepare such alternatives so that when we say we have a solution, we do not lose our sovereignty. He noted, “We can say that our Constitution says that the republic has no right to give an inch of land to anyone. This is a constitutional issue, but an intermediate solution must be found to resolve this issue.”
