Turks and Azeris have signed an Armenian-Russian military-political alliance against Armenia and Artsakh: Andranik Tevanyan

February 17,2022 13:33

Speaking on February 16 at the Hayeli press club, Andranik Tevanyan, a member of the Armenia parliamentary faction, said about the infamous “Shushi Declaration” signed between Turkey and Azerbaijan, “After the 44-day war, Erdogan and Aliyev signed the declaration in 2021 in occupied Armenian Shushi and actually fixed the results of the war.

Nikol Pashinyan gave an opportunity to Erdogan and Aliyev to implement a policy that was their 100-year-old dream. That dream is the land connection of Azerbaijan, Nakhichevan, and Turkey, and the development of the Turkish world. The Shushi Declaration presents direct threats to the Republic of Armenia. I want those who follow us to know that this declaration is not only about Artsakh, but also a declaration against the Republic of Armenia. I will substantiate it with points. It is considered that Armenia once resorted to aggression against Azerbaijan, as a result of the 44-day war the Karabakh issue was resolved and Karabakh is considered as part of Azerbaijan within the framework of territorial integrity.

Thus, the “Shushi Declaration” contradicts our approach that the Karabakh issue is not resolved, that Karabakh should not be part of Azerbaijan in any capacity, that a final solution to the status of Karabakh is still to be found within the OSCE Minsk Group. With this declaration, Turks and Azeris are going against our approaches. The declaration, which is a de facto military-political alliance, declares that nothing will be done against any third country, it is not directed against any third country. But a few paragraphs mention that Turkey and Azerbaijan will implement their economic and political program through the Zangezur Corridor.

The “Zangezur Corridor” is written directly as a corridor connecting the Turkish world. This is a de facto encroachment on the territorial integrity, sovereignty and, in fact, the existence of Armenia, because the loss of Syunik, in fact, means the loss of Armenia. Azerbaijan and Turkey deny the Armenian Genocide, in fact declaring that they will make joint efforts to torpedo the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide around the world. And they suggest that it be reduced to the level of discussion of historians. They say that Azerbaijan and Turkey will jointly oppose any military encroachment on the territorial integrity of the two countries, or in the event of any military conflict, the two countries will join forces within the framework of the concept of one nation, two states. Look. Their pan-Turkic aspirations for the Zangezur corridor were evident. With this statement, after the 44-day war, we not only lost the territories of our Artsakh Republic, but also Azerbaijan invaded the territory of Armenia in Gegharkunik and Syunik regions. Now imagine that our armed forces decide to carry out an operation and clear the Azerbaijani forces from the territory of Armenia.

The “Shushi Declaration” enters into force immediately, and Turkey may in fact invade the territory of Armenia. Therefore, this declaration, with its footnote, is directed against Russia, against Iran, and also against the global security of the region. Imagine. If Turkey is directly involved against Armenia, which they have agreed to under the “Shushi Declaration,” it is natural that we also have a multilateral agreement within Russia and the CSTO, by which Russia should also be involved. I want to note that the Turks and Azeris have signed a military-political alliance equivalent to the Armenian-Russian one. In other words, Nikol Pashinyan’s policy has led Turkey to officially enter the region and even sign a declaration with its younger brother Azerbaijan against Armenia and Artsakh. And if in that situation Russia gets involved in the conflict, it turns out that NATO member Turkey is facing Russia and NATO must attack. In other words, this declaration is a threat to global international security. I am not saying that first of all it is a threat to our state, because that declaration is a declaration against Armenia’s independence.”
