Peace does not mean giving up

March 10,2022 18:03

“They are behaving very badly,” Andranik Kocharyan, Chairman of the NA Committee on Defense and Security, responded on March 9 when journalists reported on the psychological pressure exerted by the Azerbaijanis on the Armenian border, announcing over loudspeakers that this is their territory.

According to Kocharyan, the world is restless, and we should not discuss their bad behavior, but what we can do to prevent it. “The shots were fired in the direction of the school and there was one grenade launcher behind us. We have no casualties. As for the gas pipeline, yes, the gas pipeline is damaged and since Russia is responsible for the ceasefire and the guarantor, which is in an active phase of operations in another troubled place, maybe the enemy is trying to cause difficulties in the Artsakh sector as well.” In response to the question of if Azerbaijan is organizing a sabotage against the Russian peacekeepers, he responded, “I do not know what they are doing, but let’s note the fact that the gas pipeline is damaged. Most likely, these issues will be resolved through dialogue.” Regarding who the dialogue is about, he clarified that it is about Russia and Azerbaijan, and regarding what the Armenian side has to do, he said, “I guess the leadership of the Republic of Artsakh Republic has to participate.”

Kocharyan also said that the government’s program stipulates that the army must be built to curb the enemy’s aggression. “Every border case must be investigated, because it violates the logic around which there is a clear ceasefire agreement. Every case of violation must be investigated and the guilty must be punished, regardless of whether we have our share of guilt or the adversary has it.” Andranik Kocharyan said that peace does not mean giving up positions. “Peace means achieving peace so that it does not cross everyone’s minds to give snipers orders, shoot, and not be held responsible for it.”
