Opening an era of peace means removing peacekeepers: Former minister

April 11,2022 10:30

The temptation of the Turkish world to open a second front in Russia is very relevant today, which puts Armenia in existential danger. This view was recently expressed by former Minister of Economy Karen Chshmarityan during a discussion on “Economic Risks, Difficulties of Life” organized by the “Alternative Projects” group.

“In these political conditions, to say that we are starting an era of peace is incomprehensible, because opening an era of peace means the removal of peacekeepers. Is there anyone in Armenia who is ethnically Armenian who has no idea what the removal of peacekeepers could lead to in Artsakh? After that in Syunik, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, Tavush, and after that, what about Yerevan?” said Karen Chshmarityan.

According to him, we are facing existential problems, deepening in socio-economic problems, “we are throwing our society out of focus.” According to Mr. Chshmarityan, according to an economic analysis, the issue should be brought back to security issues. According to the former minister, the risks and problems in the economy are a setback to security issues, as the investor will sign a contract to invest today, and tomorrow there will be no land to make that investment.
