“It is a situation where we will either stay or be annihilated”: The students entered universities (Video)

The members of the “Voice of Youth” initiative, who are also YSU students, entered the building of Yerevan State University on April 26. Earlier, the students were holding an awareness rally at the University of Economics and hoisted the Artsakh flag in front of the university. They encouraged other students to join them.

The students tried to meet with YSU Director Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, but it turned out that he was not there. They wondered where the director might be during office hours. One of them also mentioned, “Does this person, who does not want to meet with the students of his own university, deserve to be called the director of university? In fact, he does not have the courage to stand in front of his students to answer a few questions.”

The students told reporters that they wanted to ask the director questions about the situation, the new Armenian-Turkish agenda, security issues, and Armenia and Artsakh. “We want to ask a very important question to the director, the answer to which will be of key importance for us, YSU, and students of all universities. Even if we do not ask that question today, it is the same, we will still return, we will ask that question to Mr. Hovhannisyan. The university is at the roots of statehood and it has always been of key importance,” said one student. The students hung the small flag of Artsakh on the walls of YSU. “We want to say that the homeland is our sanctuary, we do not accept the expression that we will open an era of peace with the Turks, with the people who organized 1915. We organized a torchlight procession to prove to the internal enemy that we will not forget 1915, that we will not open an era of peace,” said a student.
