I alarmed today on May 10, at 7:15 a.m, that under the pretext of conducting a search, some people with uniforms without emblems, who presented themselves as police officers, entered the apartment of the Chairman of the Youth Organization of the Republican Party of Armenia Henrikh Danielyan with deception and brought him to the Kumayri police department, where he was interrogated as a witness, then was released.
Besides David Avagyan, a participant to the Movement called “Resistance” organizing peaceful protests in Armenia recently, was arrested, then detained on the basis that he didn’t have permanent residence in Armenia, while David Avagyan is from Hadrut region of the Republic of Artsakh who lost his house as a result of the 44-day war in 2020 and moved to Armenia.
He also mentioned that his three minor sons are in his care. However, the police did not take this fact into account, detained the latter, then changed the content of the report at the department and attributed the alleged hooliganism to Davit Avagyan.
Actually, in order to punish political dissent, the authorities are ready to take any illegal actions, detaining even our compatriot who lost his home as a result of the war, arguing that the latter has no permanent residence in Armenia.

In connection with these cases, I have sent an urgent letter to the Prosecutor General of the RA Artur Davtyan, requesting for the latter’s order to find out the circle of police officers who possibly committed offenses, at the same time to examine the legality of their actions and to consider the issue of giving an appropriate legal assessment to their actions, as well as to provide information on the process and results.
