According to the 6th point of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, any project or construction of a new route along the Lachin corridor must be approved within the first three years, after which the Russian peacekeeping troops will be redeployed to protect that route.
Azerbaijan has been actively working to build a new road around the Lachin corridor which will be completed soon and a proposal has not yet been sent regarding this project to the appropriate authorities for approval.
The road being built by Azerbaijan starts from the border of Kornidzor village to Hin Shen village of the Artsakh Republic.
It has become increasingly obvious that the new road must also pass through the 5 km section of the Lachin corridor for it’s completion. Under no circumstance can any road be built by Azerbaijan that will interfere a connection between the Republic of Armenia and the Artsakh Republic.
