“The RPA considered that those elections would not lead to the solution of the political crisis after the war, that the Civil Contract would make every possible and impossible effort to fix in the elections that the people allegedly gave a new mandate to the government. Unfortunately, we did the right thing, but the big political opposition forces agreed to go to the polls,” Gagik Minasyan, a member of the RPA executive body and former NA deputy, said at the discussion entitled “Armenian Agenda: One year after the 2021 parliamentary elections.”
According to him, it was realistic to predict that any agenda of the opposition factions would not even become a subject of discussion in the National Assembly during this period. Even violations of the NA Rules of Procedure took place.
“The disgraceful behavior of the government towards the opposition, for example, beating, was conceivable by those who seized power. Those elections did not solve the political crisis, but deepened it. Further developments proved its deepening. The consequence of all this was that Nikol Pashinyan announced the lowering of the status threshold of Artsakh.”

According to him, about two months after the Resistance movement, the uprising turned into a new organizational method, trying to communicate with all segments of society and unite the society towards the liberation of the state. To the question, if a year ago the elections had a different result, what would be the situation today, Gagik Minasyan answered, “Our opponents often say that if the one who is destroying our nation is removed from power, will we cancel their statements? The genocidal statements about Artsakh significantly reduced our chances, but even after that there were realities that have nothing to do with his statements. Our boys are imprisoned in Azerbaijani prisons today. Does this question come from those disgraceful statements? Of course not. Or does the occupation of the RA territories come from those disgraceful statements, or does the handing over of the RA ans Artsakh’s dominant positions to the Turkish-Azerbaijani control come from those statements? No.”
According to Minasyan, life has shown that as long as the current authorities are in power, tragedies will continue․ “Therefore, the existence of this government will bring new losses. Removing them is the biggest issue.”
