French Deputies Visit Settlements Affected by Azerbaijani Aggression

On October 29, a group of deputies of the French National Assembly, who arrived in Armenia on a two-day visit, visited Syunik marz.

The legislators met with the Deputy Governor of Syunik Nare Ghazaryan and the Head of the Goris Community Arush Arushanyan in Goris.

The latter presented the situation and problems created in the region as a result of the Azerbaijani military aggression in September to the guests. It was noted that the enemy targeted the civilian population, and villagers doing agricultural work were injured. The cases of theft of cattle of villagers from the RA sovereign territory have been reported. “Along with all this, not a single villager left his residence,” the Head of the Goris Community said. The Armenian side emphasized the direct condemnation of Azerbaijan’s policy by the international community.

The guests noted that they are involved in the processes of raising Armenian issues in the French Parliament and today they want to inform both partners of France and the international community about the Azerbaijani aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia. The guests noted that they plan to adopt a resolution in the French Parliament in the near future, to condemn the Azerbaijani aggression and demand the establishment of lasting peace in the region.

The French legislators, accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Syunik, also visited the villages of Verishen and Vaghatur, which were affected by the military actions of Azerbaijan, and got acquainted with the destruction caused by the aggression.

Reference was made to the deployment of the observation mission for a long period of time, economic interaction, as well as the cooperation between the sister cities Goris and Vienne.
